Job Description

Cavendish Farms is a leading manufacturer of frozen foods for the retail and foodservice markets in Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have a modern potato processing facility on Prince Edward Island; Lethbridge, Alberta; and Jamestown, North Dakota; and an appetizer factory in Wheatley, Ontario. Our headquarters are in Dieppe, New Brunswick, with sales offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston. 

The company manager will, with reference to the farm manager, assist with the management and cultivation of potatoes for french fries. This includes overseeing day-to-day activities such as planting, harvesting,  and storing potatoes. The successful candidate will be independent, have a strong work ethic, have a “can-do” attitude, and be able to adapt quickly to any work environment. Comprehensive assistance plans are offered to all full-time employees.

Job Requirements: This is a permanent, full-time position in New Annan, PEI, with 40–60 hours per week, depending on weather and business needs.

Qualifications:

• Proof of completed youth education (higher).
• 5+ years of potato farm experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team of farmers
• Experience in operating agricultural machinery in connection with planting and harvesting potatoes or similar crops
• Computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
• Ability to communicate and delegate effectively
• Detailed and able to solve problems
• A valid pesticide license will be considered an advantage.
• Ability to work long hours with planting, harvesting, and irrigation

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure farm safety policies and procedures are followed, and assist with driver safety programs.
• Develop work schedules and plans.
• Coordinate and supervise the work of field personnel, including operators, truck drivers, and laborers.
• Use farm equipment as needed.
• Help farm managers make farming decisions.
• Check crops regularly.
• Maintain quality control, production records, and performance metrics.

Hourly rate: $22.50–$3.50/hour
