 Farm Worker Job Description

Farm laborers often play very powerful roles depending on the farm they work on. They help with general farming, such as animal husbandry and plant care. For plant care, they can monitor plants for pests or diseases, water, farm machinery, spray fertilizers, and crops.

To care for the animals, they may feed the animals, clean their pens, check the animals for injuries or diseases, and move the animals to different enclosures. This may include one or more animal species, such as beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, or pigs. If the job is specifically agricultural or greenhouse labor, the primary focus of the job will be crop production. Many tasks of farmworkers require them to have a general knowledge of farming, animals, and management practices.

Must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision and be an excellent problem solver. Agricultural workers spend a lot of time outdoors in all types of weather and work long hours during the planting and harvesting seasons.
