Job Title: Kitchen Assistant, Sun Life, Waterloo, ON 

Work status: Part-time Starting hourly rate: $17.00/hour. Helbidea: 227 King Street South, Waterloo, ON, N2J 4C5. New recruitment hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00–15:00, as needed.

Job overview

How to make an impact: You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of various foods while maintaining food safety and hygiene standards in the preparation and kitchen areas.As a kitchen assistant, you will:

  • Help prepare and prepare various foods.

  • Help measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen tools and equipment.

  • Bake, grill, roast, and steam meat, fish, vegetables, and other foods under guidance. Add spices to food while mixing or cooking at the request of others.

  • Cut the meat, divide the food into plates, and add sauces, dips, and garnishes to complete the orders.

  • Wash, peel, cut, and chop fruits, vegetables, and fruits.

  • Butchered chicken, fish, and shellfish as ordered

  • Maintain the work area and equipment. Compliance with hygiene and safety principles when handling food and equipment

  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • About you:



    • Certification from a recognized culinary school is preferred.

    • You must have a valid food handling certificate or equivalent license.

    • Ability to operate cooking equipment and perform all cooking duties

    • Ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment and in a multidisciplinary team

    • Basic cooking experience

    • Excellent communication and customer service skills

    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
