Job description

Healthcare workers report to the Women’s Services Team Leader and provide support to clients and facilities. These positions require a commitment to a client-centered philosophy and approach to developing and supporting the Regional Health Authority’s (WRHA) client programs.

A home care worker will demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal and professional ethics, integrity, and responsibility.
  • The ability to control your emotions; remaining calm and tactful in various difficult situations; thinking clearly and staying focused under pressure.

Experience

  • Appropriate combination of education and experience in residential, addiction-related work experience, and/or volunteer work.
  • Experience working from a customer perspective.

Education (diploma/diploma/certificate)

  • A complete high school education is required, according to Manitoba standards.

Experience and expertise

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function well in an interdisciplinary team.
  • The ability to work as a team also contributes to a positive environment.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to working with different cultures are important.
  • Ability to use Microsoft software applications, the Internet, and email communications.
  • Valid Automated External Defibrillator (AED) CPR-C training and First Aid certification are required prior to employment.
  • Reliability is required.
  • Proficiency in English (the ability to communicate in native languages such as Ojibwe, Cree, and French is considered an advantage).
  • Knowledge of cultural traditions, customs, and beliefs is considered an advantage.
     

Physical needs

  • Sufficient physical health to perform the required duties.
  • Ability to work in shifts.

This position requires a thorough criminal background check (including a vulnerable party background check), a child abuse background check, and an adult abuse background check as a condition of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for all service charges incurred. A security clearance is considered current if it is obtained no later than six (6) months prior to employment.

Please note that an employee may not hold two or more positions in the WRHA organization that, together, equal 1.0 EFT. WRHA’s legal team includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Winnipeg Middlechurch, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA Business Programs, and WRHA Community Health Services. Effective April 1, 2024, Golden West Centennial Lodge will also be part of the legal entity WRHA.
