Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Winkelman II in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The primary role of the Warehouse Associate II is to coordinate the efficient and effective movement of all goods, such as finished goods and raw materials, in the warehouse. This position supports the coordination of warehouse staffing needs as needed. The second role of this position is to assist the production manager in identifying and improving efficiency and effectiveness in warehouse operations. 

The Warehouse Associate II works in partnership with the Warehouse team and Production Manager as follows: participates in team efforts to achieve business unit goals; works with the manufacturing team, customer service, supply chain, and quality assurance to ensure that all warehouse and stock operations are completed on time and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and process requirements. May step in to manage if necessary when the warehouse manager is not available.

This position will work 8 hours (9:00–17:30) Sunday–Thursday with 24/7/365 operational support. 

The successful candidate will be required to be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. 

Responsibilities:

Inventory

  • Promote the acceptance of all packaging, ingredients, and fresh materials into the building.
  • Responsible for all activities related to inbound and outbound shipments, including tracking shipments, creating invoices, confirming orders, and loading and unloading orders.
  • Approval of specified goods to goods and warehouse.

Documentation

  • Ensure that all materials and equipment are entered into the warehouse management system immediately upon receipt.

Work Scheduling

  • Performs routine tasks as needed to meet daily goals and care needs.

Quality and customer focus

  • Ensures product quality by implementing quality assurance, hazard analysis, critical control points (HACCP), food safety, and ISO requirements in all aspects of warehouse operations.
  • Creation of SOPs and standard procedures of work documents and activities for warehouse activities, training SOPs, and ensuring employees follow SOPs when performing tasks and activities.

Leadership

  • Coordinates with the warehouse manager and production manager to achieve daily delivery by working with the warehouse team to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
  • Contributes to ensuring a respectful, safe, and healthy working environment within the organization.
  • Assist in developing effective cross-functional and departmental coordination.

Safety and environment

  • Promote safe work practices by implementing standard safety practices and developing and implementing practical safety practice recommendations as required.
  • Ensuring that warehouse operations are in good working order, conducting routine inspections of mobile devices, and enforcing all policies and procedures related to employee safety in the work environment.

Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend measures to improve processes, performance, and quality of processes, and recommend changes to the work environment to increase efficiency.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrates leadership and interpersonal skills, creates a team environment, and increases productivity and employee productivity.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with demonstrated ability to communicate one-on-one and in a group setting.
  • Knowledge of using an ERP or warehouse management system. 
  • Focus on quality, including developing and following sound policies and standard operating procedures that lead to improved business units.
  • Problem solver with good analytical skills and the ability to solve problems as needed. Involve employees in the decision-making process. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of warehouse experience, preferably in the food industry, with a focus on inventory management. 
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license. 
  • Great attention to detail and numerical skills.
  • He is well organized, has excellent time management and prioritization skills, and knows how to make good decisions.
  • Experience in a multicultural work environment.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications and Internet applications. Experience with an ERP or warehouse management system is advantageous.
