What an opportunity!

  • Financial Accounts: Maintain accurate and organized financial accounts, including income, expenses, and transactions.
  • Financial Management: Assist in establishing and managing the organization’s budget to ensure expenses remain within budget.
  • Payables and receivables: manage invoices, process payments, and track accounts receivable. Ensure that bills are paid on time and money is collected on time.
  • Bank and credit card reconciliation: Monthly reconciliation of bank and credit card information to clarify and identify discrepancies.
  • Financial reporting: preparing monthly financial reports for the association’s board, including income statements and balance sheets.
  • Payroll: Manage employee salaries, including tax deductions and benefits.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure that the organization complies with tax laws and the necessary documents and declarations.
  • Grants and Funds: Assist in the management of grants and casino funds received, ensuring that the funds are used in accordance with the grants, casino funds, and accounts. Includes AGLC financial statements.
  • Use QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online accounting software to manage financial information efficiently.
  • Expenses: View and analyze expenses related to events, travel, supplies, and other activities.
  • Communications: Liaise with the organization’s directors and board to provide financial updates and answer financial questions.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 2 years or more experience as a lawyer or in a similar position as a billable or junior lawyer
  • A business certificate and/or diploma is a plus.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector would be an advantage.
  • A good understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes
  • Experience with payroll administration.
  • Tax planning is considered a benefit.
  • Rating information is considered a plus.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with QuickBooks Desktop is a plus.
  • Easily create, manage, and manage pivot tables in Excel.

Type of work:

  • Part-time working week of 12 months, approximately 25 hours (there is currently a vacancy open), with the possibility of extension.
  • Location: Calgary
  • Salary: €20 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
